ChatBuddy
ChatBuddy Privacy Policy and Account Deletion
Effective date: October 12, 2026.
ChatBuddy is published by One Thum Software, LLC, the developer name shown on the Google Play store listing. This policy explains what data ChatBuddy collects, how it is used, and how users can request deletion of their account and associated data.
Account deletion
How to request deletion of your ChatBuddy account
Users can request deletion of their ChatBuddy account and associated data in either of these ways:
- In the ChatBuddy app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account, and confirm.
- Email support@onethum.com with the subject line “Delete ChatBuddy Account” and include the email address or sign-in provider (Google or Apple) associated with the account.
Data deleted or anonymized
When an account is deleted, ChatBuddy deletes or anonymizes account profile data, conversation and message history, attachments, credit and usage records, notification preferences, and other account-associated app data.
Data kept and retention period
Deletion requests are completed within 30 days. Backup copies and security logs may take up to 90 days to expire from routine systems. Some records may be retained where required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud prevention, security, or dispute-resolution purposes. For example, purchase and transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years where required by law, but they will no longer be used to operate an active ChatBuddy account.
Data We Collect
ChatBuddy may collect the following data:
- Name or display name, if provided through Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, or profile editing.
- Email address, when provided through Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple.
- User IDs, including Google or Apple sign-in identifiers and ChatBuddy internal account IDs.
- The content of messages, prompts, and conversations you submit, and the AI-generated responses returned to you, since exchanging this content is ChatBuddy's core function.
- Attachments you submit in a conversation, such as photos or documents.
- Purchase information, including credit balance, top-ups, and subscription/entitlement status processed through Google Play, Apple App Store, and RevenueCat.
- App activity and analytics events, such as feature usage, sign-in outcomes, purchase flow events, and error events.
- Crash reports and device diagnostics, such as device model, operating system version, screen resolution, locale, and timezone.
- On iOS, a push notification token, used to deliver notifications through Apple Push Notification service. ChatBuddy for Android generates notifications on-device and does not use a push token.
- Technical data such as IP address and app version.
ChatBuddy does not sell personal information and does not use data for advertising.
How We Use Data
We use this data to:
- Create and manage user accounts.
- Send the content you submit to the AI model provider(s) you select, in order to generate and deliver a response.
- Sync conversation history across devices.
- Process purchases and maintain credit and entitlement balances.
- Send notifications users choose to enable.
- Improve the app, diagnose issues, prevent abuse, and maintain security.
- Respond to privacy, support, and deletion requests.
Third-Party Services
ChatBuddy uses trusted service providers to operate the app:
- Microsoft Azure for backend hosting, database storage, and attachment storage.
- AI model providers, depending on which model you select for a conversation — see Content Sent to AI Model Providers below.
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple for authentication.
- Google Play Billing, Apple App Store, and RevenueCat for purchase processing.
- Firebase for authentication. On iOS, Apple Push Notification service delivers notifications; on Android, notifications are generated on-device and do not use a push service.
- One Thum Software AppStats for app analytics, crash reports, and device diagnostics (device model, OS version, screen resolution, locale, and timezone).
These providers receive only the data needed to provide their services.
Content Sent to AI Model Providers
ChatBuddy does not run its own AI models. To generate a reply or an image, it sends what you submit, through One Thum Software's servers, to the company that makes the model you selected.
What is sent
- Your messages and prompts.
- The earlier messages in the same conversation, so the model has the context.
- Any images or documents you attach.
- Your custom instructions, if you have set them in Settings.
Who receives it
Only the provider of the model you selected:
- Anthropic — Claude models.
- OpenAI — GPT and GPT Image models.
- Google — Gemini and Imagen models.
- xAI — Grok models.
- Mistral AI — Mistral models.
- DeepSeek — DeepSeek models.
- Moonshot AI — Kimi models.
- Venice AI — Llama, Qwen, Venice, and Muse models.
The content is sent only to generate and deliver the response you asked for. Each provider processes it under its own terms and privacy policy, and some providers are located, and may process content, outside your country. We use providers whose terms for the services we use commit them to protecting the content they receive to a standard at least equal to the one described in this policy.
Your permission
ChatBuddy for iOS (version 8.1.6 and later) asks for your permission before it sends anything to an AI model provider for the first time, and shows this same list. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings → AI data sharing; after that, nothing further is sent until you allow it again.
Please do not submit sensitive personal, financial, health, or other confidential information you would not want processed by a third-party AI system.
Encryption and Security
ChatBuddy uses HTTPS/TLS for all data transmitted between the app and backend services, and does not permit unencrypted (cleartext) network traffic. Authentication tokens are stored using platform security features such as Android Keystore and iOS Keychain where applicable.
Deleting Some of Your Data (Without Deleting Your Account)
You do not need to delete your account to delete specific data:
- Individual conversations. In the ChatBuddy app, open History, then swipe a conversation to delete it, or select multiple conversations and tap Delete.
- All conversation history automatically. In the ChatBuddy app, go to Settings → Advanced → Delete conversations after, and choose a retention period (30 days, 90 days, 180 days, or 1 year). Conversations older than that period are deleted automatically.
- Other specific data. Email support@onethum.com to request access, correction, export, or deletion of other specific personal data where legally required. Some app features may stop working if required data is deleted.
Children's Privacy
ChatBuddy is not intended for children under 13. One Thum Software does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support@onethum.com and we will take appropriate action.
